Middle school forensics is a club where we develop skills in public speaking and have competitions where students perform their piece for a judge. Forensics is a lot of fun and there is a lot more that you can do beyond just giving a speech! There are many categories to choose from and there are options to work with a partner or a group. Forensics has been open to grades 6-8 in the past, but more information will come about the possibility of expanding to include 5th grade in the future.
For 2020-21, we are anticipating not having a typical forensics season. Normally students would attend practices 3-4 days a week after school. Due to the likely switch to a common start time for 2021-22, there will probably be several changes to the forensics practice schedule. The season generally begins in late January and wraps up before spring break.
In a typical year, we have two forensics meets with area schools in March. Students perform the same piece at both meets and aim to see growth or improvement at the 2nd meet.
