Board Member terms of office are three (3) years each, starting on the last Monday of April after the election and ending April of the 3rd year of the term.

Notice of School Board Election April 7,2026
NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to qualified electors of the School District of Poynette that a school board election will be held on April 7, 2026 to fill two (2) School Board Member offices.  These offices will each serve a three-year term starting April 27, 2026 and expiring on April 23, 2029.  The positions are currently held by Sally Stewart and Randy Tomlinson.

An elector desiring to be a candidate for a position on the school board must file a Campaign Registration Statement (Form CF-1L or CF-1) and a Declaration of Candidacy (Form EL-162SD) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the Poynette School District Office.  Once filed, a declaration may not be withdrawn.

Forms and guidelines can also be accessed through our district website at www.poynette.k12.wi.us, under the District tab, School Board Members, or on the Wisconsin Elections Commission website at http://elections.wi.gov/.  Forms can also be obtained in person from the Poynette Schools District Office, 108 N. Cleveland St., during regular business hours of  7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Mon. - Friday, until Tuesday, December 23, 2025.  

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the School District Offices WILL BE CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING on Thursday and Friday, November 27 & 28, 2025, and WINTER BREAK from Tuesday, December 23, 2025 through Monday, January 5, 2026.

Questions regarding district boundary information may be directed to the Columbia County Land Information Office or the Poynette School District Office.  

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that if a primary school board election is necessary said primary will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Acceptable Photo ID will be required to vote at this election.  If you do not have a photo ID you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.

NOTICE OF INCUMBENT NON CANDIDACY FOR THE 2026 SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION 

School District of Poynette

The following incumbent school board member(s) whose term of office expires in April 2026 and whose seat will be contested at the 2026 Spring Election has filed a Notification of Noncandidacy, as provided under section 120.06(6)(b)3 of the state statutes:

By filing the Notification of Noncandidacy, the incumbent(s) listed above have given notice that they do not intend to be a candidate for reelection to their school board office. 

A qualified elector of the School District who wishes to become a candidate and have their name appear on the election ballot for any of the school board seat(s) that will be contested at the 2024 Spring Election must file all necessary forms at Poynette Schools District Office, 108 N. Cleveland St., Poynette, Wisconsin by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2024.
