The District’s School Nutrition program is committed to providing healthy and safe school meals. All food service staff completed updated food safety training as guided by the USDA and DPI regulations. Food safety is not something new to school meal programs, as they have been required to have an approved HACCP (food safety plan) that is updated yearly. Should you have further concerns please contact the school food service staff.
Contactless service The updated policy includes NO students touching any common areas such as: eating utensils, terminal PIN pads, food items (including milk). Meals are served in a combination of small cohort groups and classrooms. Increasing both times and frequency of hand washing and surface sanitizing will be implemented.
Menus are simplified and meet the USDA and DPI school nutrition regulations. Items will be pre packed, by food service staff, eliminating all student self serve items. No self serve ala carte items will be available at the HS/MS grade levels, but may be phased in, as the school year progresses.The breakfast meal includes juice, fruit, milk, individually packaged cereal and whole grain items. The lunch may include a mix of entrees, deli wraps and sandwiches along with fruits, veggies and milk. Visit the meal viewer link for the daily entree choices. Menus are subject to change. This service may be altered or suspended as mandated by the USDA/DPI School Nutrition Programs. The meals will meet USDA nutrition guidelines but are not guaranteed to be allergy, gluten, or dairy free.
